LaTramun will see an increased number of international racers in this the 19th edition of the iconic Mountain Bike Race from Girona, which will take place on October 15th and will have the finish line in the city of Girona. MarathonMTB European editor Ben Thomas will be on the start line.
Year upon year the event attracts a higher standard of participants. Almost all of the male riders who finished top 10 last year have confirmed their attendance, which shows the enjoyment of the event. Sébastien Carabin (Merida Wallonie), Tony Longo, Johnny Cattaneo (Willier force), Joan Llordella & Ismael Ventura (Buff Scott), your editor Ben!, Julen Zubero (Ciclos Zubero), Robbert de Nijs (DeFlexWinkel), the polish Adrian Brozka & Wojciecm Malejak (JBG-2)… more great riders will join them, such as other Buff Scott team members like the Rioja Bike Race winner Francesc Guerra, the current Iron Bike champion, Milton Ramos from Primaflor-Mondraker team, Lars Granberg from team Birk, Robert Mennen from team Embrace The World Cycling, the German champion and 1st in the Marathon Series Markus Bauer, and more.
The female race will have one more time the presence of the World Championship runner-up and 2nd in the European MTB Marathon Championship Clàudia Galicia (Trek) and the 2016 Marathon Spanish Champion Maria Díaz (Kross NW). Angelika Tazreiter (Big Time), who came third in the European Marathon Championship, has also confirmed her presence. Other great female riders who will be in the race are Sandra Santanyes (Olympia), the Belgian champion Alice Pirard (Merida Wallonie), the champion of the Madrid-Lisboa race, Ada Xinxó (Trideporte), the polish rider Michalina Ziolkowska (Volkswagen Samochody), who finished 8th in the European Championship, etc. More top riders are expected to confirm their attendance very soon.
Once again LaTramun will be part of the UCI MTB Marathon Series and it will also be part of the Marathon Catalan Cup. It is one of the only three races of this category in Spain. The racecourse makes it very special event with over 90% single track! It’s one of the hardest races despite having a total of only 68 km. The race will finish in the city of Girona for the second time, the start line being in the village of Hostalets d’en Bas.
LaTramun is a 68 km linear race with the start and the finish in different locations, riding along La Garrotxa, La Selva and El Gironès counties. The natural scenery and exceptional landscapes make it unique.
