There’s nothing better than a stage race as a way to explore somewhere new. If you want to step away from the bigger European and South African stage races – what about something in South America? Long the destination for backpackers, and those captured by the draw of wanderlust, South America holds many treasures for mountain bikers – what about the Brazil Ride?
The Brazil Ride is a seven day epic through Brazil – as you might have guessed. The race will provide everything that is necessary – water, food, accommodation, technical support , so you only worry about pedalling. Each day is 80-100 kilometres of the purest mountain biking by the trails forged for the diamond mining of the eighteenth century.
The race is as much about the competition as it is about getting to know those around you, and experiencing new terrain with them. You’ll share breakfast, the day’s hardships and celebrations, plus dinner, all with the same people. New friends.
The race takes place in the Chapada Diamantina, a magic place where the scenery changes every moment. The National Park has 152 thousand hectares and altitude between 800 and 1200 metres above sea level, with peaks until 2000 meters. Water brings life to the region, with several fountains, water falls, crystal lakes red-coloured rivers, that feed an incredible diversity of fauna and flora.
Always raced in pairs, Brazil Ride has six categories: Open, Mixed, Ladies, Master (no athlete less than 40 years old), Grand Master (no athlete less than 50 years old), Nelore (above 90 kilos) and Corporate Category (3 members, no athlete less than 35 years old).
