M3 Montafon Mountainbike Marathon, 2011

The M3 Montafon Mountainbike marathon has its third running scheduled for July 30, 2011. The well known Austrian mountain region offers plenty of demands, plenty of variety and plenty of kilometres: For ambitious mountain bikers, everything they could possibly want is in the M³ Montafon Mountainbike Marathon. The terrain varies from flat single trails to high alpine portage sections with plenty of gravel, from woodland paths in the water meadows of the Ill to panoramic trails against the backdrop of the Silvretta, a feast for the eyes of bikers.

“Thanks to its enormous length of 145 kilometres, the M³ naturally provides a suitably varied course,” according to Alexander Stergiotis from the Mountainbike-Club Montafon, responsible for the route of the new M³. “But the shorter courses”, Stergiotis promises, “provide panoramic views and make demands”.

“For all those who do not actually want to do 145 kilometres and the M³ extreme, there is also a magnificent panoramic course with a demanding downhill section. And on the shortest course, at 26 kilometres, participants can look forward to a terrific descent on the Alpine-Coaster-Golm from Latschau”, the biker promises. The middle distance in Montafon is listed as M2 Challenging, the shortest distance as M1 Sport.

The Mountainbike Club Montafon and Montafon Tourismus GmbH are putting new emphasis on a sport which is enjoying increasing popularity. In this competition there is something for every mountain bike fan – from the amateur mountain biker to the top-class sports professional. Three courses at different degrees of difficulty are being used. There are challenging course profiles, exhausting climbs and daredevil descents to be overcome.
