As Spring continues to bring more daylight hours and hopefully improving weather, Australia (and NSW specifically) are gaining more Mountain Bike Races on the calender. The next round of Chocolate Foots lauded Singletrack Mind Series is taking place at Mt Annan on Sunday 18th September. Full details can be found online.
With the advent of Spring, the race at Mt Annan marks the rteurn of the 8 hour format. The past two events have been run at 7 hours due to the daylight constraints enforced by the latitude of race locations through winter months. More sunlight means more racing, so the 8 hour format will reign supreme for the next few rounds.
Although with the Tour de Timor drawing many top riders overseas, there will be many Marathon racers keen for a hard race after the cancellation of the 4th Round of the Real Insurance XCM Series, the Bottlebutt 100, due to be raced this Saturday 10th September. Let’s hope that the poor weather that has plagued many NSW Mountain Bike events this year stays clear of Mt Annan next weekend, and this weekend too – as MarathonMTB.com will be heading out to peruse the new sections of trail. Stay tuned.
Entries are still open for what should be a cracking day of racing. You can enter online until Wednesday 14th September. Get a team, or ride solo. But make sure you’re there.
