Organisers of the 2012 Capital Punishment MTB Enduro have announced that entries for the event will open this Thursday October 20 at 9am.

The point-to-point mountain bike race links Canberra’s best single tracks from Kowen Forest, Majura Pines and Stromlo Forest Park.  The event, which offers 50km and 100km variants, will take place on March 17, 2012.

“There was such a great atmosphere, with the mix of elite and non-elite riders,” said Dylan Cooper, winner of this year’s edition. “And the race course itself was amazing – fast, with lots of variety, well marked out and linked up some of the best riding in Canberra. Finishing with a loop of Stromlo topped it off nicely. I’ve done a lot of events of various types and sizes and this is the best I can remember.”

The event will also form part of the second Real Insurance XCM Series powered by CycleNation. In spite of teething problems with several events this year, the Real Insurance series has proved a boon for marathon mountain bikers and increased the profile of marathon events in Australia.

Check the Capital Punishment website for further information about the event. Participants should get ready to refresh their browsers on Thursday morning, when the “register now” button will appear.
