Community driven mountain bike event, the Tathra MTB Enduro, will return for 2012, with five races on offer to make sure the whole family can be involved.

Registration for the event opened last weekend, with 500 places on offer across the five events – double the capacity of the inaugural running of the race this year.

The 2012 Tathra MTB Enduro will include:

– The King Nelba 100km (Sunday)

– The Goat’s Knob 50km (Sunday)

– The Doolagharl 20km (Sunday)

–  With a10km prologue the Saturday, alongside a 2km children’s race.

The event receives enormous community support, with local groups including the Tathra MTB Club – track builders Uncle Andy and Evil Tom – Clean Energy for Eternity, Bega Local Aboriginal Land Council, the Uniting Church Choir, the Tathra Surf Club, Rural Fire Service, Volunteer Rescue Association, The Lions Club BBQ Kings, Tathra Country Club, local landowners and race volunteers all pitching in to make the event a success.

The race also supports local efforts the local area. Last year the event succeeded in raising over $25,000 for renewable energy projects in the Bega Shire.

With the emphasis on participation rather than profit, race entries have remained the same price as last year, ranging from free entry for the kids race to just AU$80 for the 100km event.

Uniquely, event organisers also offer the opportunity to ‘try-before-you-buy’ an entry, with 35km of course open to riders all year round.
