Aussie XCM Series dates announced for 2012

CycleNation together with Real Insurance are excited to announce the event line up for Australia’s biggest Mountain Bike Series, the Real Insurance XCM Series. After a successful inaugural series in 2011 which saw more than 4,500 participants across all of the events, the series is expanding to Victoria with the inclusion of the Wombat 100 as the second round of the series.

Series Events:

Round 1 – Capital Punishment, 17th March – Organized by AROC Sport

Round 2 – Wombat 100, 22nd April – Organised by Maximum Adventure

Round 3 – Convict 100, 5th May – Organised by Maximum Adventure

Round 4 – Stevens Bikes Husky 100ker, 30th June – Organised by iAdventure

Round 5 – Wollombi Wild Ride, 1st September – Organised by H Events

Round 6 – Briars Highland Fling: The Australian MTB Marathon Championships, 11th November – Organised by Wild Horizons

With more than $17,000 on the line, this year the overall Series winners in both the men and women’s categories will not only be awarded but also overall category winners.

Participant’s top 3 events out of 6 will count towards their overall series Ranking which means there will be more competition from interstate riders.

“It’s great to be involved in the Real Insurance XCM Series again in 2012 particularly as it expands to Victoria” said Real Insurance Head of Marketing Anne Grobler. “As Australia’s biggest Mountain Bike Series we look forward to increasing the profile of Mountain Biking in this country”.

After a tightly contested Series in 2011 there is no doubt the Series will be one to watch during 2012.

The series already looks likely to be well attended, with entries for the Capital Punishment (round 1) and Convict 100 (round 3) already sold out – entries for the 50km marathon at the Convict are still available.
