The Marathon and Enduro season is kicking off in Australia, with a veritable plethora of events for Marathon Mountain Bikers to enjoy. The Real Insurance XCM Series is gathering a strong following, as is the Rocky Trail GP Series, and the SRAM Singletrack Mind Series.
Not only are some great races ahead, but also some great double header weekends! The first round of the Singletrack Mind Series is at Kinross, near Orange. Falling on the 29th, it’s right after the rescheduled Capital Punishment Marathon in the ACT. The course at Kinross has been careful laid out to be exciting, and challenging. Of course, it’s full of plenty of great single track too – that’s just how the Chocolate Foot crew do it.
Enduro Racing is the favourite format for many Mountain Bikers
It is a tough job setting an Enduro course, but the people out in Orange are pretty sure they’ve got it right.
“I have been out riding the forest, and Grant and I have laid out a cracker of a track, it will break some spirits and more then test some legs, but it will also be very very fun. We are going to change it from the Ginja Ninja course, not a lot but put in a little more climbing, only 30m (in one section, not 30m more overall, we lose some climbing by missing out another bit of track) more vertical gets us a great descent where you really dont need to pedal for a little while, so I think it’s worth it, the solos can recover (maybe not eat or drink there) but it’s good fun.”
