CRC MTB Marathon – final round only one week away

After another action packed marathon season which certainly seen its fair share of challenges it is only another  weeks before the last event of 2012 will open its doors at the Rugby Club in Ruthin.

The 5th round of the CRC MTB-Marathon Series powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport will take place on the 15th and 16th of September and will feature a road sportive, night marathon and main MTB marathon.

The weekend will kick off with the VITUS Road Sportive powered by CycleOps Power on Saturday the 15th September.

Following the sportives will be the 2nd Exposure Lights Big Night Out night marathon in 2012 which will get going at 7.30pm. The ride will be pretty much entirely ridden in the dark – so make sure you don’t just bring your climbing legs but also some well working night lights.

Following the ELBNO night marathon will be the final round of the Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon Series. Once more 4 different courses will be on offer – starting with the 29km long (900m of climbing) mini marathon which is ideal for beginners and families, followed by the popular half marathon (55km and 1,800m of climbing). On from there we will have the 70km long middle distance (2,300m of climbing) with the full marathon (80km, 2,900m of climbing) sitting at the top.

The Ruthin course heading out onto the Clwydian Hills, is a varied course using all the best there is to ride in the area. Fast flowing single -tracks linked by lots of interesting bridleways and technical forestry sections. The course climbs up onto both Moel Arthur and Moel Famau, with spectacular views of the surrounding Clwydians and North Wales coast.
