Allan Iacuone took out the inaugural Australian National Cyclocross Championship title in the men elite category.
After a great and exciting race under sunny skies, it is Allan Iacuone who gets to wear the green and gold jersey for the next twelve months. It was a fast and hard race on the grass of Cranwell Park in Melbourne’s western suburbs. After a great opening lap by Sid Taberlay – the only rider to bunny hop the barriers – it was Adrian Jackson that managed to break away from the rest of the field. Just as the very enthusiastic crowd was convinced that AJ was on his way to taking the title, it was Allan Iacuone that bridged the 20 seconds gap in only one lap. Adrian was able on to hang on to Alan’s wheel for another lap but ultimately had to let him go. Paul Van Der Ploeg completed the podium in third position.
