Weather has been a significant factor in the SRAM Singletrack Mind Series throughout 2013 with rain hampering the early rounds while the wind made things challenging for the last round at Nowra. No such problems are expected for Round 3 on 29 September as glorious spring weather is forecast for this weekend at Awaba Mountain Bike Park near Newcastle.

The racing thus far in the series has been very close and competitive and with many riders now focussed on performing well at the upcoming WEMBO World Championships in Canberra the solo categories are expected to be very hard fought. After two rounds Ed McDonald leads the solo men’s category by 15 points to Andrew Lloyd. The women’s solo is being headed by a relatively new name to the solo field, Canberra’s Eliza Kwan who leads the current Solo 24 hour National Champion Liz Smith. The masters solo categories are both being led by previous Series winners Wendy Stevenson and Garry James.

Awaba Mountain Bike park is easily one of NSW’s finest venues with seemingly endless rolling singletrack punctuated by the stiff but achievable Camelbak climb. The Hunter MTB Association has spent hundreds of hours building and maintaining the venue and Chocolate Foot very much appreciates being able to partner with them and provide a first class racing experience to competitors.

Entries for Round 3 of the SRAM Singletrack Mind Series close on Wednesday night and with a big field already entered, get in soon to avoid disappointment.
