Stage Races opening, and filling up for 2014

The year is just starting, yet many mountain bikers are setting their goals and booking some big races for the months ahead.

Transpyr is one of many races that have shortened their length this year. The Crocodile Trophy is shorter than it used to be, Transalp has dropped to 7 days from 8, and of course the Mongolia Bike Challenge is down to 7 from 10. Transpyr reports that they are 50% full, with mostly foreign participants, predominantly Belgian with 15% of the total, followed by British, Germans and French. But this year also abound participants from the United States, Central America, Israel, Australia and even China.

Transpyr offers a true journey across a mountain range, it begins in the Mediterranean and ends at the Atlantic Ocean, with the spectacular changing scenery of the Pyrenees, the mission of reaching the sea and an international, friendly atmosphere with great cycling experience.

Brasil Ride open their entries today, and again, this is a weeklong offering that offers adventure and high competition, attracting racers from around the world.

Not to be missed in 2014, the Crocodile Trophy celebrates it’s 20th year, making it the longest running MTB Stage Race in the world. Of note, the ‘Croc’ has received a UCI S1 ranking for 2014, which should attract an even deeper International field. Even more exciting is the routing of the course, utilising the trails of Atherton, and finishing down the Bump Track into Port Douglas.

Be sure to look at our Calendar, as it gets updated frequently, and will guide you to the best marathon and stage races around the globe.
