Mt Stromlo has been put on the world stage a number of times, with a World Cup, a World Championships, and 24hr champs too. In the heat, many of Australia’s best cross country races did battle in round 4 of the Subaru MTBA National Series today.

Bec Henderson was quick to stamp her authority on the field, and won after leading from the first lap, with Peta Mullens in 2nd and Jenni King in 3rd.

Dan McConnell followed suit for Trek Factory Racing, blasting away from the field, and somehow keeping a 36t chain ring moving on the brutal Cardiac Arrest climb, and clear from rocks on the Hammerhead descent. McConnell was followed by Brendan Johnston and Scott Bowden, who sprinted for 2nd – but Trekky Johnston won.
