Entries rush in and prize pool surges for Golden Triangle Epic

Scheduled for Sunday the 26th of April, the Golden Triangle Epic will see riders from all around the country descend on Bendigo for one of the biggest mountain bike events on the Victorian race calendar.

Riders can choose from 15km, 50km, and 100km course distances, and there’s even a 100-mile category for those up to the challenge. The course will take riders through some of the best singletrack the Bendigo region has to offer, including sections of the historic Goldfields Track.

But while there may be only 3 weeks to go until the 2015 Golden Triangle Epic, there’s still time for riders to enter for their chance to win a brand new Trek Superfly FS 8 mountain bike valued at $3199!

Local Trek dealer, Cyclescape Bendigo, have thrown their support behind the Golden Triangle Epic. Owner Matt Britton is excited to be a part of the event festivities.

“Given the Golden Triangle Epic will be notching up its 10th year in 2015, we’re stoked to come on board as a sponsor” said Britton.

“Everyone knows that Bendigo is home to some of the fastest mountain bikers on the planet, and the battle for the podium on race day is going to be fierce! But what we really wanted to do was to put up a prize that anybody could win, regardless of where they finish or how fast they are.”

In order to be eligible, competitors need to register online before Wednesday the 22nd of April to enter the draw for their chance to win a Trek Superfly FS 8. Those who have already registered are automatically entered.

There will also be over $8000 in spot prizes to be handed out on the day from event sponsors including Maxxis, TORQ, Frameskin, Birzman, and Motion.

Team Manager and owner of TORQ Australia, Dean Clarke, will be on hand at the Golden Triangle Epic as the official nutrition sponsor, while cheering on TORQ riders including Mark Tupalski, Tasman Nankervis and Jenni King.

“The Bendigo cycling scene has always been a massive nurturing ground for our team,” said Clarke.

“It’s such a competitive environment that pushes riders to be better. We really have been lucky with past & present team riders from the area. All of them have had an important part in the TORQ teams development and have become a massive part of our racing family.”

Bike Corp will also be providing prizes on the day including Maxxis tyres, Rock ‘N’ Roll lube, and Birzman pumps and multi-tools.

“We are very excited about the sheer number of entrants and the diversity of those entrants” said Matthew Stercher of Bike Corp.

“This is one of the premier mountain bike events on offer in Australia, and it really caters for everyone. The atmosphere will be amazing, and the location is a beautiful place for mountain biking.”

Last year’s podium

In addition to spot prizes, there will be a massive $10k in cash up for grabs for all podiums in the 50km, 100km and 100 Mile categories. The cash prizes have been made possible by the generous support of Isuzu Australia, and Andy Hoare of Andy’s Earthmovers.

“I’ve sponsored the Bendigo Golden Triangle Epic for the past four years, and I’m thrilled to be able get behind the club again in 2015,” Hoare said.

“I love cycling in general, but Mountain Biking is my passion. I support the Epic, because I believe in promoting cycling in Bendigo”.
