The organisers of the Craft BIKE Transalp powered by Sigma have announced that the 2016 event will take place from July 17 to July 23 next year.
The announcement comes just weeks after the 2015 event was raced and won by a dominant Team Centurion-Vaude.
A true classic in the mountain bike marathon and stage race world, the 2016 will again test hundreds of teams of two over seven stages across the main ridge of the Alps.
Arguably one of the most famous stage races in the world, the race has evolved from an 8-stage journey (1998-2013) into the 7-stage format of recent years. The reduction in stages has taken little away from the challenge of the event as teams traverse the Alps from Germany to Riva del Garda in Italy. Pairs this year faced a total distance of 611.27km and 19,002 metres of climbing to make it from Ruhpolding via Saalfelden/Leogang, Mittersill, Sillian, Alleghe, San Martino di Castrozza and Levico Terme to Riva del Garda.
Details of the route for 2016 will be confirmed in the coming weeks, along with information about registration for the race.
