Glacier 360° in Iceland – new event for 2016

Glacier 360

Registration for Iceland’s first ever XC multi-day marathon stage race, the Glacier 360° in Iceland, opened January 15th 2016. This one of a kind race will be held August 16th – August 19th 2016, finishing off with a bikers bonanza party in Reykjavík on August 20th.

Iceland isn’t yet known for mountain bike stage races – but the land of the midnight sun does offer some unique terrain to tempt the adventurous mountain biker racer.
The course covers 290 kilometres in 3 days through the untouched Icelandic highlands, the full 360° around Langjökull Glacier. This pristine glacier is the second largest ice cap in Iceland and without a doubt one of the most grueling and scenic XC race tracks in the world.

Starting from the world famous Geysir hot springs and finishing at the impressive 32 meter high Gullfoss waterfall, riders will traverse black sands and lava fields, drop into green valleys underneath the glacier and cross unbridged rivers (with support and professional assistance).
Afternoons and evenings will be spent in amazing places, the lush Húsafel lava field and the remote highland refuge at Hveravellir. Both locations offer access to geothermally heated pools and/or 100% pure and natural geothermal pools. Riders will enjoy full service, food and drinks by the support crew before, during and after the race each day.
