The seventh edition of the Brasil Ride will introduce competitors to an exciting new route. Having been hosted in the Chapada Diamantina region since 2010, the 2016 edition (to be held between October 15 and 22) will take 500 athletes through the area around Southern Bahia.
“We had a lot of success in the Chapada Diamantina during our first six years of Brasil Ride. We are very grateful to all the cities of the region, as Mucugê, Rio de Contas and the other municipalities who welcomed us so warmly throughout these six seasons”, said Mario Roma, the creator of the Brasil Ride.
“But given the concerns of some of our sponsors and also the riders, we opted for a scenario change to ensure that the competition can keep transforming the life of each participant, regardless of the how many times they have participated. We are convinced that the Porto Seguro region will receive us warmly for another great challenge that lies ahead.”
The coastal area of Porto Seguro offers an expansive area of singletracks trails. While in the countryside, close to the border of Bahia and Minas Gerais, riders will enjoy vistas punctuated by cocoa plantations, parks and mountains.
“We consider a good omen all the success that Brasil Ride had on Bahian soil,” said Elias Dourado, General Director of Sports for Bahia.
“They’ve built a huge legacy in terms of mountain biking in several municipalities and we can see a rise in the number of races that are organized each year. The Brasil Ride, in partnership with the Brazilian Ministry of Sports and other partners, has become the leading international event in a sport that is already part of the Bahian calendar with very positive impacts for tourism and business development in the whole chain of Sport and Recreation.”
The city of Porto Seguro is ready to meet the demands of the competition. Mayor of Porto Seguro, Claudia Oliveira is celebrating the arrival of a large sporting event in the city.
“We’re very happy to have the opportunity to host this major event in the national and international scene. It is another evidence that we have a city well prepared to host great events that benefits the municipality,” he said.
