It is now a decade since the BC Bike Race began, firmly planting itself onto the international stage race calendar with its unique blend of trails, community, racing – and smiles. The people behind the race, from the trail builders, communities, clubs, logistics crew and more have poured in countless hours of work and passion to make this race what it is.
BC Bike Race delivers more than just half a dozen or so long stages tied together with gluggy pasta parties. The race prides itself on technical singletrack, and showcasing the best that British Columbia has to offer. From hospitality, unique terrain, natural beauty, and the townships it passes through.
The trails are tight, and built with care, and top shelf racers from around the world have come to Canada to test themselves on the terrain that is known to single out the best bike handlers. Some come and fail, many come and rail.
Despite more events landing on the calender each year, BC Bike Race continues to sell out in record time, with many entrants repeat offenders. There are even more riders who have the BC Bike Race etched onto their ‘Bucket List’ – the draw of the race is so strong.
The crew have put a slide show together highlighting some of their best memories from the past 10 years, and it does a great job of capturing what the event is about, and what it means to be part of it.
In their tenth year BC Bike Race sold out in four days and have filled an international field of 600 racers from 36 countries. Racers will arrive to North Vancouver for the 2016 edition of the BC Bike Race on Wednesday, July 6. The race will begin in Cumberland on July 7 and continue on to stages in Powell River, Sechelt, North Vancouver, and Squamish, before ending in Whistler on July 13, 2016.
