Hilly Business At Faget Marathon

Just over a week separates us from the starting gun of the sixth edition of Faget Marathon. MarathonMTB.com will on that start line and reporting from this round of the UCI World Marathon Series.

The trails have been prepared to receive all the brave participants, weekend warriors or full-time riders alike. Typical spring weather will accompany all persons involved on the last Sunday of April.

Riders registered for the full marathon will experience some new trails after the organizing team added some extra kilometres. The 78km saw-like race profile will separate field. Despite the fact that the maximum altitude will not exceed 900 meters, a set of short and steep climbs, mixed with some longer but milder ones, will inflict pain. There is virtually no flat area, so expect a roller coaster ride. Narrow trails that wind through the sub-mountainous landscape will put bike handling skills to the test.

The race will be made harder thanks to the strong field of riders that announced their participation. With over 700 riders from countries like Great Britain, Netherlands, Namibia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Turkey, Poland, Ukraine, Spain and France.

The shorter race at 26 kilometres is also a defining test for those new to mountain biking or those looking simply to have a great day biking in the company of hundreds of other cycling enthusiasts.

If one race is not enough to quench your riding thirst, then you can sign up for the NapoCup XCO race, another UCI event, rated Class 2, that takes place on Saturday 29th of April, the day before the Faget Marathon. See you in Cluj-Napoca!

More information on this and other events can be found in the MarathonMTB.com calendar.
