Like hills, and like Austria? The Alpen Tour Trophy might be for you. Four stages take you over some of the most impressive climbs around Schladming, including a hill climb time trial. Given the UCI ranking, the number of elite teams in attendance is high. But besides racing solo, you can also race in pairs. The racing is all based out of Schladming so you’re best to get an apartment, or book halfboard at a hotel and make yourself comfortable.
The Alpen Tour trophy is usually pretty soon after some of the European World Cups, so it’s a good chance for elite riders to get some extra UCI points and keep their race fitness up. This year, it is also about two weeks before the XCM World Championships in Laissac, and it could be useful training for those who target a top finish in France.
