The advent of the Real Insurance XCM Series Powered by CycleNation has brought a wonderful thing back to Australian Mountain Biking: rewards for the consistent riders.
Having an overall pointscore harks back to the early and mid-noughties, during the heady days of the NSW XC State Series. At one time, there were up to eight events across the state each year, taking place in exotic locations such as Port Macquarie, Bargo, Penrose State Forest, Ulladulla, Kempsey, Lithgow, Arcadia, Kowen, Waterfall, Ourimbah, Coffs Harbour, Thredbo and Killingworth.
Times have changed, and a lot of mountain bikers just don’t want to ride so hard for a short period of time. XC racing suits a strong, fit, gifted bike rider. We can’t all be such an athlete. Marathons, Stage Races and Enduro’s offer something for everyone. And the CycleNation ranking will reflect this. If you do well, you get more points. If you do really well at a race with a lot of highly ranked riders, you do even better.
Now is the time to sign up, and you can even claim your past results.
Visit www.CycleNation.com.au when you get a chance and follow these steps:
– Register
– Click on claim your results
– Wait until the page with the permutations of your name found in the results has loaded
– Click on submit after you claimed your result on each of the pages
– Go onto your profile page if you want to see your claimed results
– Go onto the ranking page to view your ranking
So how are you placed? How well are your mates placed? Keep up to date, claim your results, and get to more races to improve your ranking. More events will be added over time. But already this combines a variety of races from around the country.
2011 will be an exciting and competitive year for Marathon Mountain Biking.
