The BC Bike Race has announced a new partnership with Progetto Avventura Events, the organisers of the Mongolia Bike Challenge.
The partnership is aimed at encouraging European riders to compete in the BC Bike Race, with a reciprocal arrangement for North American riders in the Mongolia Bike Challenge.
Progetto will assist Italian and Spanish riders interested in competing in the BC Bike Race through the process of registration. The company will also provide support for those foreign riders at the race, which takes place July 2 to 9 this year in British Columbia.
“Having a great company like Progetto Avventura representing BC Bike Race in Italy and Spain is a perfect fit. They have their own counterpart in the Mongolia Bike Challenge, so very much understand what people traveling and racing need to succeed,” said the BC Bike Race’s Dean Payne.
BC Bike Race will provide similar support for North American riders ready to test themselves on the other side of the world, just several weeks after completing the Canadian event.
The second edition of the Mongolia Bike Challenge will commence on July 29 in Ulaan Baator. The nine-stage race will cover 1,200km (14,000ft ascent) and finish in Karakorum on August 13.
US and Canadian riders interested in racing the Mongolia Bike Challenge should contact Rob Fawcett ([email protected]).
The success of the Mongolian event is further evidence that the Central Asian nation could be a new bastion of cycling’s international development. In recent years, Belgian cycling legend Johan Museeuw has put his support by a programme to develop Mongolian cyclo-cross riders.
