The Absa Cape Epic is well known for being brutal, and I can attest to that.
Although the stages have become a little shorter (for the most part) since the races inception, it is hard on bikes and bodies. Personally, I’m hurting. But touch wood, my Scott Spark is going alright. There are plenty of broken bikes out there. Rockstar and Look-KMC were getting multiple flats again, and Team Bulls 2 tore a rear mech off.
So it is a good testing ground for equipment. At the moment I have been pretty happy with the fork in general, but the long singletrack climb today gave me time to think. And pedal and suffer, but my brain doesn’t get used much for doing that.
The Terralogic does hamper the suspension action on a steep technical climb. I do find that I am bouncing off loose rocks (of which there are quite a number) when your wheel hits it with minimal body weight. This hasn’t proved a problem on open trails, or on sharp transitions. Just on sustained technical singletrack.
Although I am not a massively aggressive descender, the stiffness is still proving to be a boon, boosted by the QR15 front end.
Although I have been happy with the Terralogic threshold setting so far, I may back it off a little to see how it goes over the following days. There is plenty more climbing to test it on
