Round 2 for the SRAM Singletrack Mind 8hr Series has rolled around quickly. So quickly, many of you may have missed Round 1! Don’t fret, that was rained out, and postponed to the end of the season. It is rare to be given a second chance for race entries, so if you missed Round 1 the first time, try to get it in November!
The race at Coondoo road should be a cracker. As it stands, the fields are deep in solo and pairs, and the trails are in great shape. The local club, SCUM, have a great trail network and deserve credit for helping such a race come together. As a new bonus, any entrant will go in the draw for the ‘Golden Ticket’ – that’s $3000 to spend in the bike shop of your choice! More details can be found on the event website.
Being three weeks from Round 3 of the Real Insurance XCM Series, the Husky 100, and serious Marathon racers should be grateful for the chance to familiarise themselves with the terrain around Nowra, and get some good hard racing in before the next 100km hit out.
MarathonMTB.com will be represented by Team riders Justin ‘Maddog’ Morris and Sam Moorhouse. With Justin having shown great form over the past month, and Sam on a work induced mountain biking ‘go slow’, it should make for an interesting pairing. However Sam came a close 3rd here in solo mens last year. And experience counts in mountain biking!
Check back next week to hear about how the race went, through Sam’s and Justin’s eyes.
