Over 1,000 riders will compete in the Husky 100ker on Sunday August 7, Round 3 of the Real Insurance XCM Series. Alongside the 100km Marathon Series is the Real Insurance XCM Half Marathon Series (50km ride). With over $2,000 up for grabs and 3 races to go in the series, only a few points separate the top riders so this event will be one to watch!
Points are collected for each rider’s best 3 results in the XCM Series, which makes the Series still wide open, even for riders that have not done the first 2 events.
Currently leading the Real Insurance XCM Half Marathon Series is Glen Pleffer (3,427 points), followed closely by Trent Butler (3,385 points).
3 rd place, overall, is Real Insurance Women’s Half Marathon Series leader Kylie Webb (3,289 points). Kylie, will be one to watch after winning the open women’s category at both the Capital Punishment and the Dirt Works 100 NSW to claim the top spot for the women’s competition.
David Thomas (3,247 points), Lachlan Graham (3,244 points) and Robert Stodart (3,220 points) round out the top 5 men.
Second in the Women’s competition is Larri Britten, on 3155 points, and Sonia Pragt is in 3 rd just over 200 points behind on 2,947 points.
The current leaders will need to keep an eye out for other series contenders who have only done one event to date. Garry Millburn, sponsored by Turramurra Cyclery, (Dirt Works 100km NSW Half Marathon Winner) and Bradley Morton (Capital Punishment Half Marathon Winner) are tied 49th overall after each winning a half marathon event. Garry Millburn is registered for the Husky 100ker this weekend, so a win for him in the Husky 100ker and Bottlebutt 100 will place in the leader’s position. Unfortunately for Bradley Morton, who isn’t registered for the Husky 100ker, not racing could cost him the Real Insurance XCM Half Marathon Series prize money.
The Husky 100ker is the 3 rd event in the Real Insurance XCM Series.
