With heavy rains lashing the state of NSW in South East Australia for the past fortnight, two highly popular events had to be postponed. Mid-week, AROC Sport announced the postponement of their Capital Punishment MTB Enduro. And on the evening of Thursday 8th March, the James Williamson Memorial Enduro was also postponed.
Thankfully, these aren’t cancellations. The conditions haven’t allowed the events to be run on the set dates, and new dates are being set. AROC have just released the new date for the Capital Punishment.
The new date will be Saturday 28th April, which starts to compress the event calendar.
“We know this makes for a very busy April with MTB events and there will be some clashes with other important events. Being a point to point event there are a number of key land holders that we must get approval from and this was the only day that worked for everyone in April. We hold The North Face 100 – a 100km trail running event in the Blue Mountains in May and so May was not an option either. After that is is too cold in Canberra – particularly if it is wet as those of you who participated in the 2010 event would attest.”
Changes of date will not always work, and AROC are aware of this and working with racers who hold entries.
“We are obviously hoping that most of you will go for a big month of riding and will still be able to ride Capital Punishment on the re-scheduled date. Some of you will not be able to make the new date and we are very sorry for this inconvenience. Postponing events can certainly never suit everyone. You can transfer your entry to another person online until Friday 6 April. The new person will just need to pay the $10 transfer fee as per our normal online entry transfer policy. If you can’t find anyone to transfer to we are able to offer a 50% refund if you advise us by email before 5PM Friday 30 March that you need to withdraw from the event. Please note that this is very different to our advertised refund terms and conditions.”
So change your google calendar, re-sync your apple calendar, or change the scrawl on your wall mounted yearly planner. The new date is the 28th April, so get set for a great race – albeit on a later date!
