In any Mountain Bike Stage Race, you get into a bit of a rhythm, and ‘in-jokes’ start coming to the fore. There is no doubt about it, Stage Racing is hard, but often it is the humour of those around you that can help get you through. Here are some of the better one liners heard this week at the Ingkerreke Commercial MTB Enduro in Alice Springs this week.
“I checked the colour of the event hoody online, so the clothes I packed wouldn’t clash.”
“I don’t think there is enough sand in this years race.”
“We probably don’t need to be eating this much for 90 minutes of racing.”
“There’s an A line there. Just huck it”
“I don’t know what those guys are doing with skinny tyres – they’re like pizza cutters.”
“Hey Blairy, there’s a phone call, they want to rename Alice Springs after you!”
“We gassed it anytime there was sand to make them pay for using stupid tyres.”
“I’d rather skip the waiting for the night stage, and just do 100km tomorrow instead.”
“I’m not so good on the little trails, so I find it pretty hard out here.”
“They tried to only give me True Blue Goo at the prize giving, but I wanted the wine!”
