With the option of a 205km marathon, the 2013 Flinders Ranges Outback Epic appears ready to live up to its title. The mammoth one-day race will take place on April 28 this month as it traverses the entirety of Australia’s legendary Flinders Ranges in South Australia.
Competitors in the 205km event will have 16 hours to complete the journey to-and-from Wilpena Pound, with the option of racing as pairs or ‘unsupported’ category, arguably the ultimate test for solo riders. Relay teams can also compete, with the 205km broken into stages for those racers. To view a map of the 205km course, visit here.
While the maximum event will prove a stern test for all those tackling it, the event will offer up 2 alternatives: a 109km event, and a 64km loop. All three events will carry a cut-off time of 10:30pm.
• Flinders Ranges Outback Epic 205 starts and finishes at Wilpena Pound
• Flinders Ranges Outback Epic 109 starts at Willow Springs and finishes at Wilpena Pound
• Flinders Ranges Outback Epic 64 starts at Gum Creek and finishes at Wilpena Pound
