Can you free ride a fat bike?

It’s up there with a lot of questions, but asking whether you can free ride a fat bike might be best answered by Rocky Mountain Bicycles and their crew of accomplished free riders. People who made the sport, like Wade Simmons. Sure, free riding is a long way removed from marathon and stage racing. But fat bikes tend to be grouped into that endurance niche, especially with the launch of events like the Snow Epic.

But it’s a new sport (or new fad?) so who’s to say what is possible?

This video came from a few days of playing around in the Coastal Mountains in British Columbia, Canada, on the Rocky Mountain Blizzard fat bike. Rocky Mountain are one of many companies with production fat bikes, and although some of their testers were hesitant at first, the video should show that all who rode the Blizzard loved it, and found plenty of ways to use it.
