Northwave aren’t a new name in cycling shoes. They have earned the confidence of the big names in mountain biking and won plenty of World and European titles. In a partnership with Michelin, they have released the Michelin Extreme XC – raising the bar again with a brand-new outsole, designed by Northwave in cooperation with Michelin Technical Soles.
Among the lightest MTB shoes on the market, new Extreme XC is enhanced by the Hyperlight XC outsole: which is 100% unidirectional carbon fiber, it was the outcome of biomechanical studies to locate materials only where actually needed for maximum efficiency, so to be able to combine very low weight and extreme rigidity.
The sole’s sculptures are made through the innovative Dual Layers Compound Technology, combining two compound layers with different characteristics: the first provides maximum flexibility, acting like an independent suspension, while the second is tougher and more resistance, for improved traction and endurance. Aggressive sculptures in the toe and heel areas provide the ideal grip and traction, while the side sculptures are there to guarantee stability, and are melted into the soles structure for unprecedented resistance.
The new Hyperlight XC matches with the upper, constructed with Northwave Biomap technology and showing laser micro holes, resulting in a perfect fit for every foot and ideal breathability, while also featuring the acclaimed Northwave’s patented SLW2 closure system, the only one with step-by-step and full release by using only one button.
