How to ride in sand

Mountain biking can take you to many places, and some areas are always going to be harder to ride than others. Along with mud, wet tree roots and pea gravel – sand can be pretty hard to master. Whether you’re racing in central Australia, in a beach race, or maybe in the Crocodile Trophy – being able to master sand is very useful. The sand on stage one of the Cape EPic in 2013 (above) proved very difficult – even for the world’s best.

Practice these tips on some sandy trails near you, and you should be getting through sand traps with relative ease.
