Transpyr reloads for its seventh edition

Related Event: Transpyr

After six editions, the Transpyr stage race has continued to grow into a better and more exciting experience crossing the Pyrenees from coast to coast, and this year the organisation proposes important novelties.

In the words of the organization, “Transpyr Coast to Coast participants are extraordinary heroes who will face and enjoy a unique mission, a personal quest of self-improvement that will lead them to their goal, the sea, after seven unforgettable days of pure cycling”.

Your quest in the Pyrenees

The Transpyr is not just a race. It is an expedition to glory, a search, a personal challenge … a mission through the spectacular beauty of the Pyrenees.

Over the 7 stages fatigue builds –  the mileage and climbing do take a toll. This fatigue is balanced by the knowledge that the Atlantic Ocean draws closer with each pedal stroke. This quest for the sea through the Pyrenees brings the essence of this race; Transpyr Coast to Coast

New dates and competitive format

For next year event, the success of the 2015 edition is built upon. The record numbers of participants from across the world has been acknowledged in the international press as one of the best cycling events in the world.

The seventh edition will start two weeks earlier than usual, on June 12 in Roses and will end on June 18 in Hondarribia, after passing Camprodon, La Seu d’Urgell, El Pont de Suert, Ainsa, Jaca and Burguete / Roncesvalles. This change will offer riders a milder climate and a wider choice of accommodation.

A unique characteristic of this event is that riders may choose between riding coast to coast by road cycling or mountain biking.

The road option offers riders the chance to explore over 1000kms of quiet back roads and 44 mountain passes and participants may choose between two routes of different hardness but equally beautiful.

The Gran Raid Mountain Bike proposes a carefully studied itinerary including all sort of terrain in the daily average of 110 km and 2,500 m of altitude gain. It can be completed individually, by pairs or trios. In addition, teams of two might take part in the competitive form, Transpyr The Race.
