Set on the roof of Australia, the Snowies Mountain Bike Festival is set to kick start an epic year of MTB racing for 2016. The 3 day/5 stage race takes in the amazing trails of Thredbo and Lake Crackenback Resort and Spa. With a total prize pool of $10,000 and over 100 km of epic single track, the Snowies Mountain Bike Festival is set for another explosive edition on 12-14 February.
The race starts on Friday afternoon with a quick 5.5 km blast around the flowing trails of Lake Crackenback. Saturday morning brings a 21.5 km excursion up to Thredbo village via the epic Thredbo Valley Trail. Stage 3 on Saturday afternoon really does bring you to the roof of Australia with a chairlift-assisted run down the new 9 km All Mountain track, starting from just under Mt Kosciusko.
Sunday’s racing begins with a quick ‘Gravity Check’ back from the Thredbo village to Lake Crackenback Resort and Spa for the final 45 km stage made up of 3 × 15 km loops around Lake Crackenback. Sounding like a good weekend away on the mountain bike yet? If not and it’s sounding like a bit too much riding, there is two teams categories with 2 and 3 person options.
Unlike some stage races the logistical options are much more favourable for the solo racer. With plenty of accommodation options either in Thredbo village or at Lake Crackenback Resort and Spa, they both can act as a suitable base for the 5 stages. Further information is available on our Race Calendar. The official Race Website has full details of the stages and the after-parties available! Head over to get your entry sorted so you can start training and look forward to exploring the Iconic Snowies Mountain region with a whole bunch of like-minded people!
