July 9th, 2016 has been saved in many marathon racing calendars for close to a year. The 19th edition of the Salzkammergut Trophy has more than 1300 entries so far, 400 for the extreme distance! More than 4.000 mountain bikers from more than 40 nations are expected again to tackle the seven different distances. Those who register by the end of February will benefit from the cheapest early bird rates.
Although racing about 230km doesn’t suit everyone, the Salzkammergut Trophy has an extensive option of courses, and the ‘B track‘ is highly popular.
The race will be hosted by Bad Ischl, and that includes the 60.4 kilometre all-mountain-course for the fourth time, combining the three most difficult down hills of the extreme distance need to be challenged.
New in 2016 is a special competition just for electric mountain bikes on a 36 kilometre course. Three course sections are going to be rated: two steep climbs as well as a technically challenging trail in the valley, however the whole distances has to be completed within a certain time limit. With this new modus winning this race requires the perfect mix of endurance, technical skills as well as the proper battery management. Those who want to experience the Uphill-Flow of an eMTB check out the Expo during the Trophy weekend: more than 100 e-mountain bikes are available for testing.
