6 things you need to know about the Augusta Adventure Festival

Augusta Adventure Fest MTB Race

The Augusta Adventure Festival is just weeks away. The popular multisport festival has always catered for mountain bikers in one way or another, be it a leg of an event, or having a team’s event where a mountain biker might do their thing for their team for the two-wheeled time on the trails.

But now, event organisers Rapid Ascent have ensured there is an eventĀ just for mountain bikers. And here are 6 things you have to know about the event.

The race is 35km

That’s right, you’re set for a good time and not a long time. Here at MarathonMTB we have often said that a race should be the right distance for the terrain, and not built to an arbitrary number. We love that Rapid Ascent feel the same way. Get more course details here.

You get to race in the afternoon

Yes! If you’re not a morning person, then you’ll love the mountain bike event at the Augusta Adventure Festival. It starts at 3:30pm, so you can have lunch, let it settle, knock back an espresso, do your warm up and hit the start line.

It’s all in with the multisport crowd

At a race like the Augusta Adventure Festival, you get a broader crowd than at a mountain bike race. But it’s not at the level of something like say, Noosa Tri. So you’re likely to meet plenty of like-minded people, who could not only put you to task on the trails, but they might be able to do the same by foot, paddle or when swimming. You might even find a new training partner.

You’re not riding anything crazy

Rest-assured that the Augusta Adventure Festival MTB race isn’t about to send you down a ravine, or off drops that risk life and limb. It’s a mix of dirt trails, fire trails, and easier paths. That doesn’t make it easy, as it means you can push your fitness pretty hard. But it does make it perfect for those new to mountain biking and racing.

You can make a weekend of it

The Augusta Adventure Festival starts on Friday afternoon on 2nd November, if you’re keen to get down to Augusta and register. Even if you don’t do the ocean swim or paddle on Saturday morning, you can peruse the event expo. After your race on Saturday don’t miss the presentations, and why not hang out to watch the adventure race on Sunday, or maybe you’ve brought your kids along for one of the junior events? The complete schedule is online.

The location could be worse!

This is just one great event from Rapid Ascent

You might not have seen other events from Rapid Ascent across Australia. But with the Otway Odyssey and Great Otway Gravel Grind in Forrest, Victoria, Bike Buller at Mt Buller and The Redback MTB Stage Race in Alice Springs, they have a whole lot of experience running mountain bike events, If you get along to the Augusta Adventure Festival for the mountain bike race and absolutely love it – do make sure you look into their other events!
