The route for the 11th edition of Andalucía Bike Race will travel 364 km with 11 330 metres of climbing, and this challenge will run from 17 to 22 May in Jaén and Córdoba in Spain. This year the route will take in popular sections of the typical race route, amongst others that have not been raced for a long time.
This includes the technical ascents of El Pincho, El Neveral, El Arrastraculos and Los Villares. The race will start by the canal in Córdoba, and will visit the Quiebrajano reservoir, climb El Reventón, Los Morales, La Loma de los Escalones up and down – it goes everywhere!
In the six stages of this edition there will be routes with long climbs, long descents, stretches with lots of forest, high peaks with panoramic views and, as always, the race will be near the olive trees in the province of Jaén. The stages will be tough and technical, but in each of them riders will find the ingredients to make them epic, fun and incredible.
How to prepare for a mountain bike stage race – our tips!
Andalucia Bike Race FLASH STAGE | XCT
24.55 km & 870m+ | Jaén 17.05.2021
The FLASH STAGE will be the only time trial (XCT) of the competition, and the shortest stage of all. With 24.55 kilometres and 870 metres of climbing, the ascent to El Neveral, the highest point of the stage at 995 metres, stands out. You will find a demanding stage with a long ascent and descent. The toughness of the terrain will make it a very attractive and fun stage to start this edition.
Andalucia Bike Race STAGE 2 | XCM
64.12 km & 2.250m+ | Embalse del Quiebrajano 18.05.2021
This stage is located entirely in the southern mountains of Jaén and is notable for its two long climbs. With 64 kilometres and 2250 metres of climbing, it stands out for the incredible panoramic views that will be enjoyed throughout the stage and at the top of the three main climbs. Riders will find long and stretched outings with some spectacular routes that mountain bikers enjoy.
Andalucia Bike Race STAGE 3 | XCM
72.12 km & 2924 m+ | Jaén. 19.05.2021
We say goodbye to Jaén with a stage combining hard stretches that contrast with the views that riders will find. Starting from the Fuentezuelas Sports Complex (the same as in the Flash Stage) towards El Neveral, a mythical point already visited in Flash Stage, but ascending through El Pincho with technical trails. After this first ascent and 1500 metres of altitude difference, you will start the different descents. It will be a stage that, although it may seem short, will be very physically demanding. The variety of terrain and flora will be the protagonist of the stage, so you will have to be careful not to suffer any incident and be able to reach Cordoba with strength.
Andalucia Bike Race STAGE 4 | XCM
63 km & 1.694 m+ | Córdoba. 20.05.2021
Located in the province of Córdoba, Stage 4 will be a stage that will stand out for the toughness of the terrain where it will make a difference. You will climb the ascent to Arroyo de la Gitana, which has not been ridden in the Andalucía Bike Race since 2013.
Andalucia Bike Race SUPER STAGE | XCM
92 km & 2364 m+ | Córdoba. 21.05.2021
The Super Stage will be the longest stage of this edition with 92 kilometres and the climb to the legendary Reventón. A long stage, but once El Reventón is climbed, it becomes bearable and brings together the best of the Cordoba mountains, really showing the essence of the Andalucía Bike Race with easy and hard climbs and a lot of downhill trails.
Andalucia Bike Race FINISHER STAGE | XCM
48.3 km & 1230 m+ | Córdoba. 22.05.2021
The Finisher stage stands out to have fun and to finish the Andalucía Bike Race with a smile on your face. The stage starts with an enjoyable area in Santo Domingo zone with flats to climb La Loma de los Escalones, which in the previous stage riders raced as a downhill, to reach the highest point of the stage, Arrastraculos. From there the route heads to Los Villares to descend Las Conejeras with a descent that will head towards the finish line passing through Los Morales and the wonderful and fun trails of Santo Domingo.
