Malevil Cup returns for 2023

The Malevil Cup is one of the most traditional and prestigious mountain bike marathons in the Czech Republic. In recent years, the bike marathon in northern Bohemia has hosted the European marathon
championships, the national championships and the prestigious UCI MTB marathon series. In 2023 the Malevil Cup has a UCI C1 classification, which should attract some of the fastest riders in marathon racing to win some UCI points and battle for a prestigious win.

The race will take place in the Lusatian Mountains on June 17th. It’s a unique landscape, and the event offers 30, 50, 70 and 100km options – so you can choose a course that suits you. The longer courses travel through the Lusatian and Zittau mountains also lead across the border to Germany to the well-known spa town of Oybin.

The Malevil routes offer the best of the Lusatian and Zittau mountains. They contain a mix of dirt and
forest paths, steep climbs, rocky and root descents and fun natural singletrack. The Malevil Cup traditionally starts on the square in Jablonné in Podještědí. The first attractive passage comes already in the opening kilometers through the Česká brána and the natural singletrack to Hrádek nad Nisou. The beauty of the track comes after crossing the national border into the German part. Here, the competitors will have a traditional passage through the spa town of Oybin and the challenge of overcoming the most difficult climb on the route to the top of Hvozd. This is where the race is often decided. The passage around the dominant Luž peak is also challenging.

“The Malevil Cup is a beautiful mix of everything. Short steep climbs, longer rolling climbs. If you
have time, enjoy the beautiful views and the rocks. The course is hard, but if you pace yourself well
you will have a good result. Technically it’s not the most difficult race, but you will need to ride smart
to go smoothly over the roots. The atmosphere is unique. And people know how to enjoy a good cold
beer after some tough riding,” ex Dutch national champion Hans Becking described the race.
