The race takes over the town of La Roche en Ardenne which is overlooked by the medieval castle and surrounding Ardenne hills. The spectacular surroundings add to the drama of the race and buzz around the town during race week.
A different Easter, in the Alice
Having never raced in the Northern Territory before, when the Easter in the Alice crew asked if I wanted to race, I jumped at the opportunity! For the international readers, Alice Springs is in the heart of Australia, and is surrounded by desert. With temperatures in excess of 40 degrees celsius and minimums frequently dipping below […]
Bike racing and training with Type 1 Diabetes
Cycling was not always my passion or my career in life, as a matter of fact at the age of 10 all I could dream about was one day being a pilot! I used to watch fighter pilot movies, play pilot video games and my bedroom wall was platered with posters of jet fighter planes! […]
My favourite event: The Simpson Desert Bike Challenge
With the enforced hiatus from racing upon us, many including myself are reminiscing of race days gone by. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunities and support to make racing across most corners of the world happen. It’s given me a pretty broad appreciation for how the world works and more specifically how […]
Cape Epic 2020 – we need more than luck
Everyone wishing me well for the Cape Epic has reminded me to be safe, and wished me luck. Swiss Epic 2019 Stage 4
I know from experience that you can’t pack much more than 2,000m of climbing into 50km if you want to finish in the same place you start – so while today’s Swiss Epic stage looks mercifully short, it was bloody hard work, and that’s how it always stood out from the race route. Swiss Epic […]
Swiss Epic 2019 Stage 3
Every race has one, and today was the Swiss Epic’s Queen Stage. The most demanding, most emotional, hardest stage of the race. Today took in 80km and 2,200m of climbing, and while on paper this may look easier than other stages (think stage 1, with 3,000m climbing), the technicality of today’s trails, and the repeated, […]
Port to Port stage 2: Thrills and spills at Killingworth
Stage 2 of the Port to Port MTB stage race was spoken highly of from competitors who raced a similar course in 2018, high expectations were justified as riders roared through the hard pack yet flowy singletrails of the Southern Hunter Valley. With narrow margins on the GC for the men’s pairs an exciting race […]
